First, a bit of an English lesson!
A part of the English language are homophones, homonyms, and homographs. The similarities of the words, alongside the differences, can be confusing. There are two types of Homonyms: Homophones and homographs.
Homophones - sound the same but are different in meaning or spelling.
Homographs - spelled the same, but differ in meaning or pronunciation.
To help remember the difference, just think of the etymology:
Same - homo
Sound - phone (Greek phonos),
Spelling - graph (Greek graphein to write), and
Meaning - nym (Greek word meaning "name" - onyma.
